O2 Fitness: Membership Consultant

March 2019 - August 31, 2019

While working at O2 Fitness as a Membership Consultant I generated a minimum of 100 calls per day to inform community members about the products and services O2 Fitness provides. In order to sell O2 Fitness’s products I first had to learn and memorize all of the products sold by O2 fitness. I found that providing excellent customer service, having knowledge of each product and becoming the prospects “go to guy” were three key factors that allowed me to successfully bring new business to O2 Fitness. Each day at O2 Fitness I scheduled one hour on my calendar tasking myself to generate community outreach. I did this by driving to local businesses and events handing out free passes and introducing myself to potential clients. It was my goal to get the contact information of at least ten potential prospects before I returned to the office.  Networking in this way allowed me to generate new leads which typically resulted in new business for the company. My performance review showed that I generated between $750 and $3,000 in income each month for O2 Fitness.

MDO Holdings: Staff Accountant

July 2018 - January 2019

While working at MDO Holdings as a Jr. Staff Accountant my primary focus was on accounts payable. Each morning I would receive anywhere between one to three hundred invoices and it was my responsibility to make sure the invoices were entered into MDO’s accounting system. It was my duty to make sure that each invoice was entered accurately and scanned into Intacct in a timely manner. While working at MDO I was able to become proficient working with Sage Intacct accounting software as it was the operating software MDO Holdings chose for the entire finance department. Each day I would schedule time to deliver checks to clients, make deposits at banks, and I also scheduled time to run other errands asked of me by the CFO Len Morton. In the rare occasion when I would get spare time at MDO I would use that time to organize and alphabetize MDO’s files. A few more of my responsibilities included processing member and employee reimbursements along with making bank reconciliations for two of MDO’s companies: Midtown Yoga and Parlor Bar Dry Bar. One of my favorite things about the company was the culture of MDO Holdings. Every Thursday the office would go to one of O2 Fitness’s group classes or one of Midtown Yoga’s sessions and afterwards the CEO Michael Oleander Jr. Bought all of the employees lunch from Happy and Hale. These activities helped build relationships and formed a strong bond amongst employees which I believe helped to create a more efficient workforce inside of the company. I truly enjoyed working at MDO Holdings.

BB&T DBA: Truist: Commercial Credit Analyst

March 2017 - February 2018

While working at BB&T, now Truist as a Commercial Credit Analyst it was my duty to provide analytical support and assistance to banking officers who were working to loan money to a client. It was my responsibility to complete financial statement spreads. At BB&T the term “spread” refers to BB&T’s risk rating software which uses formulas to generate what looks similar to a digital income statement however it differs slightly and generates a risk rating that banking officers use to determine how much money they can safely lend to a client. Thanks to BB&T’s training process I was able to quickly learn the process of spreading financial statements. I like to think of the spread as the mathematical foundation of the lending process. While working at BB&T I became proficient using Moody's Risk Analysis Software which was the risk assessment software BB&T trusts to generate risk rating data. Each day I would generate anywhere from eighteen to thirty spreads. The spreads would vary between being used for a personal financial analysis or a financial analysis on a public company. I was motivated to maintain this spread output of eighteen to thirty spreads along with maintaining perfect accuracy utilizing established credit standards. Each week I would attend loan committee meetings and take detailed notes summarizing the discussion of all relationships reviewed.

Working at BB&T allowed me to become proficient in financial analysis. I became proficient in this role by working closely with leaders of the Corporate Commercial Credit Group at BB&T to analyze business and personal financial statements. When I came across something I did not understand I would always pick up the phone and call someone with more experience who would walk me through the problem at hand and help me further my knowledge in financial analysis. I would receive balance sheets, income statements, and tax returns of all qualities whether they were audited, projected, or company-prepared. I would gather information from these financials and insert specific items into Moody’s Risk Analysis Software. While doing this analysis I also worked closely with banking officers on a daily basis communicating about priority clients and clearing up any confusion the officer had regarding the clients financial statements. I prided myself on the fact that the analysis which I generated on a daily basis was the foundation of the lending process used at BB&T and it helped to keep me detail oriented and hungry for more knowledge in the commercial banking world of credit.
